OUT NOW! SUBMERGED - A RULES LIGHT ROLEPLAYING GAME OF LIFE UNDER THE FROZEN OCEANS

WHEN THE WORLD FROZE

WE WERE SURE WE WERE DOOMED

SUBMERGED - A RULES LIGHT ROLEPLAYING GAME OF LIFE UNDER THE FROZEN OCEANS

But there were a few who thought ahead, who prepared. While the masses above the waves fled to the equator to flee the plunging temperatures, as they fought and killed for resources and land, there were those who knew that our future lay beneath the waves, beneath what would soon be ice covering frozen seas. They did not think about fighting for a plot of land where they could scrape a few more days of life. They adapted, changed and built, so that the human race could live on while the earth healed. They estimated that it would take 30 years.

It’s been forty.

SUBMERGED is a rules-light action roleplaying game set in an alternate history where the sun has dimmed, the environment has been ravaged beyond repair and the globe has frozen. Only the underwater cities, the sub-burbs, can sustain life and the submariners of the world are the new traders between continents.

OUT NOW! DEPT. X - A RULES LIGHT ROLEPLAYING GAME OF CONSPIRACIES, MYSTERIES AND COVER-UPS

DEPT. X - A RULES LIGHT ROLEPLAYING GAME OF CONSPIRACIES, MYSTERIES AND COVER-UPS

1995.

DVDs have just entered the entertainment market. The PS1, the internet and Windows 95 were made available to all and the role of technology in everyday life was on the increase. 132,063,047 Babies Were Born. And the world turned.

While the population of the planet was distracted by new tech, TV shows and the cult of celebrity, insidious things were occurring in the shadows; creatures of lore began to take their last steps in the sunlight before the concrete took their homes, ghosts begged for the attention of living souls too busy with the draw of the television, and visitors from other worlds had to try harder to stay hidden as cameras and recorders found their way into every device.

And monitoring all of this weirdness is ‘Dept. X’. An unofficial department of every major government, Dept. X slides closed files and mysteries to agents of all organisations and bureaus – from the Police to the FBI to Interpol to Scotland Yard. Agents they know will investigate on their behalf, using the resources of their own departments.

The governments know that Dept. X exists. They would rather it didn’t, but there are secrets to be kept...

Dept. X is both needed and ridiculed. Their job isn’t to just suppress the truth that is out there, but to verify it and catalogue it. Nobody will believe the agents that do the investigating so they choose pairs with bad records or bad reputations.

Plausible deniability.

OUT NOW! DEEP SPACE ADVENTURE #5 - 'HALT!' CRIED THE MACHINE MAN

OUT NOW!

DEEP SPACE ADVENTURE #5 - 'HALT!' CRIED THE MACHINE MAN

Huxley’s Moon is a utopia for those willing to give up a part of themselves. In exchange for their dreams being recorded, the citizens of the settlement are given luxuries beyond compare; delicacies from a hundred different worlds, the finest wines and spirits, and thousands upon thousands of forms of entertainment and activities.

But they must always surrender their dreams. When they sleep, their memories and experiences are recorded and shipped throughout the settled systems, regarded as a necessity for the less fortunate on more hostile worlds; they use the experiences, emotions and dreams of the people of Huxley’s Moon as a form of entertainment, to force the endorphins and serotonin they would otherwise barely get. This has trapped the people of Huxley’s Moon into contracts that stipulate that they can never leave the dome that protects them on the barren grey rock. They are prisoners of their own pleasure.

And then the killings began...

PRESS RELEASE – FARSIGHT GAMES PRESENTS DEEP SPACE

PRESS RELEASE – For immediate release

FARSIGHT GAMES PRESENTS

DEEP SPACE

A SIMPLE SPACE ADVENTURE TTRPG

United Kingdom, Earth, 17.08.2023 – Farsight Games is happy to present a new and simple science fiction action tabletop roleplaying game, DEEP SPACE.

Blast across the stars and explore the universe in this simple 4-page rules light roleplaying game. All you need is paper, pencils and a D12 or two.

100 years into our future, humanity has discovered how to harness the power of a singularity, put it into an engine and use it to hurl themselves across space to far-off worlds and star systems. The Singularity Engine helped us slip the surly bonds of Earth.

But we took our problems with us. The nations of the Earth did not unite in exploration as expected, but instead spread their ideology and petty squabbles across the stars. After the brutal Stellar War ended with a new anti-matter bomb decimating an entire planet, an arms race began... and now a new Cold War has descended on humanity.

Inspired by the book covers of science fiction novels of the 1960s, 70s and 80s, DEEP SPACE takes gaming groups into the farthest reaches of space in the year 2145 where they can play any kind of character they wish; play as traders, mercenaries, spies, scientists, whatever you wish, all against the backdrop of political and military instability as nations vie against each other in a new Cold War under the threat of anti-matter annihilation. Along with a system to design and build simple starships, star systems and everything a session will need for a fun, fast and action-packed game, the core book of DEEP SPACE alone is enough to get things going.

Using a simple D12 mechanic with a roll low below a skill level for success or a roll high in an opposed roll situation, the game is easy to learn and easier to teach. Why? Because the game is just 4 pages long!

In those four pages you get character creation, rules, starships and vehicles, NPCs, aliens, a star system generator and some ideas on how to run a game of DEEP SPACE. That’s a lot of punch for a small game!

But there’s more! Following on from the core rulebook are four adventures for an evening or two’s play, and three supplements detailing the background of the setting as well as expanded rules for starships and equipment. Each of these booklets are 2 pages long with plenty of detail and there’s more to come!

Each of these games is just 1 British Pound, and for that you get a full game system and extras that can keep you entertained for weeks, as well as provide the groundwork for groups to build their own science fiction settings and adventures.

EXPLORING GOLF ALPHA TANGO - A DEEP SPACE ADVENTURE

Golf Alpha Tango was recently discovered by the ship Coriolis, but it could only leave a claim satellite (which broadcasts the fact that the planet is claimed, the country that claimed it and a whole slew of legal gibberish that basically says ‘hands off!’) as it needed to withdraw due to engine damage.

In a rush to secure the new world the country of the PCs has requested them to travel to GAT and complete a preliminary 270-day survey until the Coriolis completes repairs and heads back to carry out a full two-year exploration of the world.

Can the PCs tame Golf Alpha Tango?

Those Dark Places: The ED-WARD Report

'Look, we’ve got a weird one here and the DSSV Right Stuff is the only ship in the vicinity that can get there in a decent amount of time. There’s a research station called Greylight in the Eta Vultura system orbiting a barren red planetoid doing all kinds of secret work for Cambridge-Wallace, and it’s gone dark.

Cambridge-Wallace are eager to have a salvage ship go and collect the station. They’ve neglected to give us full details of the mission. All they’re saying is that the station doesn’t communicate any more and they want it investigated, possibly salvaged, with all pods present and no questions asked.'

'The ED-WARD Report' is an official adventure for 'Those Dark Places Industrial Science Fiction Roleplaying' published by Osprey Games.

DEAL - A Social Combat Roleplaying Game in a Cyberpunk City

Welcome to the dystopian future city of PERFECTION

It’s dangerous, dark and dismal, but you can make a living here.

To combat an ever increasing crime rate the city took away the one thing that gave individuals a sense of power over others; their guns. Now only the Police Corps – and some wealthy individuals with private security – are allowed to carry weapons and the possession and/or use of a firearm comes with swift and harsh punishments.

What business, syndicates and gangs need now aren’t high-powered weapons, kill-tech or even muscle; what they need are people who can handle the pressure of high-stakes negotiation and deal with the stress of dangerous situations.

A DARK STAR TO SAIL BY - A Roleplaying Game of Horrific Encounters in the Age of Sail

A DARK STAR TO SAIL BY

A Roleplaying Game of Horrific Encounters in the Age of Sail

The late era of the Age of Sail, which lasted from around 1850 to 1870, was a mighty period of maritime history as great vessels carried trade and war across the globe. As nations expanded and countries were opened to the global market – whether the people of those countries wanted it or not – huge fleets of sailing ships dominated the seas and transported goods, people and valuables. As steam ships became the norm the tall ship began to dwindle until they were nothing more than a romanticised memory.

With the sheer number of ships plying their way across the seven seas there was always going to be tragedies; vessels going missing, never to be seen again. Ships running aground, or caught in storms, or failing due to bad seamanship.

With these missing ships came the stories of their fate. Were the companies who owned them to blame? Were rival companies taking drastic measures to run their rivals? Murder? The supernatural?

The mysteries surrounding these missing ship were most likely more entertaining than the probable truth, but they have endured for decades and have given rise to stories of ghost ships, cursed islands and monsters from the deep. Take, for instance, the fate of the Marie Celeste, a cargo ship found adrift with her crew missing; the stories that arose from her abandonment and subsequent recovery by the Canadian brigantine Dei Gratia grew and changed even in the short time after she was found, changing from a simple abandoned ship to include stories of murder and piracy, with tales being told of still-warm meals laid out ready to eat, as if the people on board simply vanished into thin air. The story of an abandoned and then salvaged ship suddenly becomes much more interesting. Add to this wild tales of monsters rising from the depths, creatures from the sky, madness or possession of a crewmember and even the cruel and uncaring machinations of company men thousands of miles from the incident hoping to benefit from the tragedy in some way...

But… what if there was some truth to these insane tales?

A DARK STAR TO SAIL BY is a tabletop roleplaying game that enables players to take on the roles of crewmembers of one of these tall ships, making their way across the vast ocean in service of a company or a government, with nothing more than themselves and the ship they are on for safety. At the mercy of the weather and the winds and with a healthy dose of uncertainty, how would they react when something happens that they can’t explain? How will they survive it? With creatures arising from the depths, haunted ships, unexplained phenomena and a terrified crew, what would the players do to find out what is going on, and survive?
